ACRO Celebrates its 1st Birthday 2008 - A year of Growth
When we launched ACRO a year ago, I never anticipated that we would experience such tremendous growth. We've been awarded twenty-one contracts, more than quadrupled our staffing complement, provided an internationally accredited training course, and established our consulting services - these are just some of the developments that have challenged and motivated us. Our team can certainly look back on the past twelve months with a sense of achievement.
We are a full-service CRO: some clients have required assistance with just one or two aspects of their product development, some assistance with charting the route from early-stage research right through to the clinic and the market. We work closely with each of our clients, to tailor the solutions we offer to their special and particular needs. We like to think that ACRO has made good its promise to transform ideas into solutions.
We are able to offer clients the execution of clinical trials to international standards with competitive local South African costing. In addition, in the past year, we have enlarged our regulatory and data-management departments, to enhance our ability to offer comprehensive services to clients, from development pathway planning, through clinical study design, to product registration and beyond.
During 2009, we aim to increase our global market share and attract new clients internationally, especially those needing assistance with the conduct of clinical trials; at the same time, we aim to expand our services to local clients. We will continue our work with current clients, both those from the international pharmaceutical sector, and local companies and entrepreneurs.
We also aim to make our training services available throughout Africa: capacity-building in the area of clinical trials is a central component of ACRO's mission.
As Managing Director of ACRO, I take a personal interest in each of our projects, staff members, and clients. I am committed to ensuring that ACRO's guiding values are manifest in all our interactions with clients, researchers, research volunteers and their communities, and our society at large. We at ACRO strongly emphasise the ethical conduct of business and research; a client-centered approach; respect for research volunteers and meticulous safeguarding of their welfare; and capacity-building, both within and outside our organisation.
As we celebrate our first birthday, I would like to thank our clients and partners for their patronage and commitment to our organisation. I would also like to thank the excellent, committed, professional team of people working at ACRO.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you think ACRO might be able to help you or your organisation or if you would like to know more about us. I would be delighted to hear from you.
